Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player won his first title for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a torrid period, winning just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in specific - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Now working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court since spring of the previous year.

The win also signifies the Russian has won twenty-one championships at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my children simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is really nice," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his last six finals, featuring in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and frequent outbursts on court had prompted some to wonder if his skill to perform at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play aggressively, backed up by an improved serve.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the last five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged service breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional title, gained dominance to create a final set.

Moutet rescued 4 early-game chances in a competitive deciding set before the champion secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the win with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
